THE ACME BRASS BAR CORKSCREW.
IT FEATURES IN MANY OLD HOLLYWOOD MOVIES ABOUT PROHIBITION, AND WEIGHS IN AT A HEFTY 3.65 kg (8lbs), WITH A TOTAL LENGTH OF AROUND 50 cm (20”).
A CAST STEEL LEVER WITH A MAHOGANY HANDLE AND CLAMP ARE FASTENED TO THE BRASS MECHANISM. THE CLAMP IS STAMPED WITH “THE ACME” ON BOTH SIDES, AND IS SECURED TO THE BAR WITH THE ORIGINAL BUTTERFLY WING NUT. THE LEVER ACTION HANDLE DRIVES AND ROTATES THE CORKSCREW INTO THE CORK, AND REMOVES IT ON THE RETURN PULL. ALL IN COMPLETELY ORIGINAL CONDITION AND EXCELLENT WORKING ORDER.
The Acme was manufactured in England by Gaskell & Chambers, Ltd. English patent 11,104, W. Vaughan, August 15, 1887.
This corkscrew is really unique due to the hammer head like shape where the rotating mechanism is stored.
