A Korean brass bell, known as an Emile Bell (에밀레종), after the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok in Gyeongju. This features a tall oblong bell with shallow relief ornamentation of four figures and bands and panels of foliates. This is suspended with a chain loop by a stand in the intricate form of a dragon with billowing fire, at the end of which a brass mallet hangs.
According to an old saying in Korea, a bell implants a righteous spirit and gives a rise to a hope and a cherished desire in a person, alarms people against a disaster and gathers people for a united action, in order to bring prosperity, happiness, friendship, freedom and peace for the people.
